DISTRICT 9 UPDATE                 JULY/AUGUST 2008

On a personal note….I had Total Left Knee replacement surgery on

May 6…the Right Knee is due for surgery on July 29.  My hospital

stay was four days and I am doing Out Patient Rehab.  No one will

ever tell you this is “easy” but the results will be well worth the

effort.  Thanks to good scheduling, I will only miss the PGA Regional. 

 

Good News from ACBL.  Membership grew again in April and 2008

is expected to be an exceptional year for member gains.  Regional

Tables increased 6,400 tables over 2007 in the first four months.

 

The number of registrations for the Youth NABC in Atlanta in July

continues to grow and has exceeded all estimates.  ACBL will

award $7,000 in scholarships.  I am very proud that all of the five

Units in District 9 have contributed to this event and will sponsor

juniors from our area.  Also, many bridge players in Florida have

made personal donations to sponsor the growth of Junior Bridge.

 

I am looking forward to the National Board Meetings and NABC in Las

Vegas in July.  It promises to be the largest tournament we have ever

had.  I know I will see many of you there.
