As the Chairperson of the Junior Committee, I will start my report with motions passed pertaining to Junior Membership.

  1. A Junior Club was established within the ACBL, known as the North American Junior Corps.  The age limit is 26 years or younger and holding at least 5 masterpoints.  A candidate’s name must be submitted to the ACBL Staff in charge of the Junior Program for approval.  As a Junior Corp member you will receive a pin and be listed in the Grapeviine publication and on the Junior Website.
  2. Junior/Student Coupons for entry into events at NABC’s are for ANY JUNIOR who is a member of the ACBL in good standing and who is 21 years or younger or a full-time student between the age of 22 – 25 years of age.  Previously Student Coupons were available only to members residing in Zone 2.

$.02/name with a $12 minimum through the first 2,000 names and $.01 name for any names over 2,000.  There will be an additional charge for any materials used (labels, envelopes, etc.)

The lists, labels and/or discs are available at the stated charge to any arm of the ACBL, ACBL departments, and anyone ordering labels for Sectional/Regional flyers or programs.  Anyone else may purchase the membership list/labels/discs at the prevailing commercial price.  Any commercial use (other than for normal bridge business of the requesting body) of a membership list/labels/discs including those obtained free or at the wholesale must be approved by the ACBLCEO or his designee.

TOURNAMENTS

A motion was approved to allow AT SPONSOR OPTION that a Stratified Swiss Event may be determined by the average masterpoint holding of all team members.    I voted against this.  I do not believe that a person or persons (for example with each holding 3,000 masterpoints each)  should be allowed to play in the B Strata by putting two or three players on their  team with a few number of masterpoints.  I perceive this will make an imbalance in the playing field and penalizing B Strata teams who do not have A Strata players on their team.
