The Summer North American Bridge Championships in Chicago will be held July 13 – 23 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.  Please visit the Chicago NABC pages on the ACBL web site for details.

 

The ACBL’s “Thank you” reception for club managers and teachers will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 14.  Please join me on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. for an update on actions taken by the Board of Directors during it s summer meeting.  Afterward, Rick Beye, ACBL Chief Tournament Director, will conduct a seminar on ACBLscore for Beginners --- creative solutions for those who do not currently use ACBLscore or those who believe they cannot use ACBLscore.

 

STAR CLUB PROGRAM

The Star Club Program has been phased out.  However, the month of October – Club Appreciation Month---has been renamed the Jane Johnson Club Appreciation Month and the games carry this name as well.

 

NORTH AMERICAN 49er PAIRS

In September, players with 50 or fewer masterpoints will compete throughout North America.  All bridge are invited to participate.  There will be district recognition for winners with the highest percentage score.  Encourage new players and students.

 

INTERNATIONAL FUND MONTH

September is International Fund Month.  Any Regularly scheduled sanctioned session during September can be an International Fund Game.  The cost is an extra $1 per person, and players can win sectional-rated black points.  In addition to September, International Fund Games can be held in every month throughout the year except February and April.

 

ACBL-WIDE INSTANT MATCHPOINT GAME

The ACBL-wide Instant Matchpoint Game will be held on Thursday evening, September 14.  This event features a gold point for section-top winners and a booklet with complete analyses of the deal by national champion Richard Pavlicek.  This contest is played at the same time by all ACBL club sanctioned to runt he game.  District winners and the top pair will be listed in the Bridge Bulletin.  Overalls are awarded in each direction of a Mitchell movement.  Masterpoint awards are 1 gold point to section tops; the remaining points are ½ red and ½ black.  Please contact specialevents@acbl.org or register online.

 

 

 

JANE JOHNSON CLUB APPRECIATION MONTH

October is Club Appreciation Month.  During the month of October, your club may hold one club appreciation pairs game and one team game per sanctioned session.  The game must be held at the time of the club’s regularly sanctioned session.  There are no extra sanction fees. 

 

ACBL GOLDEN AGE MASTER

The title Golden Age Master is available to any ACBL member who has 300 or more masterpoints and is at least 70 years old, or to any ACBL member who has 100 or more masterpoints and is at least 80 years old.  On request, ACBL sends the recipient of this honor a certificate designating the member as a Golden Age Master.  Request and inquires should be sent to Patsy Edwards at

AMNESTY PROGRAM---IT’S NOT TOO LATE

 

Free Masterpoints!!!

 

The ACBL Board of Directors approved an amnesty program for previous members.  Between January 1 and June 30, 2006, upon payment of membership dues or service fees, a player whose membership has lapsed will be dredited with all masterpoints earned during the lapsed membership period.  Please encourage you lapsed members to rejoin and support the ACBL and bridge.  Contact membership@acbl.org for more information.
