Cooperative Marketing Program Discontinued

Note that the Cooperative Marketing Program is no longer with us.  We could not be happier in District Nine.  It cost us quite a bit of money to participate in this.  I will be anxious to see what the new Director of Marketing will come up with as a "carrot"--hopefully not the" carrot and stick" that we have had previously.

I met this lady at our last National Board Meeting and think she is going to be good--with new and fresh ideas.

Shirley

Below is copy of her letter to the ACBL Board of Directors Members

Beginning in January 2003, the Cooperative Marketing Program will be
eliminated. Few units have been participating and the rewards have been
slim for the amount of work required of you. We know that you already are
working hard at recruiting and retaining your members and are here to
assist you in these efforts rather than make your volunteer activities
more burdensome. This Member Status Report (for December activities) will
be the last you receive.

As the new director of marketing, I am working with members and staff to
review all the various marketing incentive and reward programs for units,
clubs and teachers with an eye toward our ultimate goals: service to our
members and promotion of the great game of bridge. I welcome your feedback
and suggestions. The new program for units will be announced in membership
updates sent to you in February.

You will receive only one update of your membership each month, the
document that comes to you via e-mail with the subject heading "In and Out
Report." This list later will include a space for you to continue to note
the reason why a current member has not renewed. This is extremely
valuable information as we develop programs to retain our members. You
soon also will receive text files with your members e-mail addresses, as
many of you have requested (though we suspect you may have more of these
than we do!) You will not be required to return the list, nor will you be
asked to complete the Annual Marketing Survey. However, we will continue
to rely on your help to keep us up to date on e-mail addresses, address
changes, etc., in addition to the reasons for non-renewal. We are working
on a method for you to return them electronically. We will, however, ask
that you maintain a Unit Electronic Coordinator, by far the most efficient
way for communication both to you and from you.

Please make sure your unit officers receive a copy of this letter. If you
or they have any questions, contact Carol Robertson, manager of the Clubs
and Membership Department, or me. And again, do not hesitate to send your
suggestions on how we can enhance your marketing efforts.

Sincerely,

Linda Granell
