NEWS FROM THE DISTRICT 9 DIRECTOR  - SHIRLEY SEALS

HELLO FROM THE RENO NATIONAL BOARD MEETING AND NABC TOURNAMENT.   I have just attended a Club Manager’s Seminar and would like to share ideas from the group to increase your membership and participation.  Have you ever considered having a Member Appreciation game twice a year whereby the members who support the club and have played a certain number of times are given free play?  AND, add a free lunch to the event---

AND Make it a Charity Game with extra masterpoints and a small donation to the ACBL charity or  local charity of choice.  It works—everyone loves a bridge party.

Are your Night Games are “lagging”---have a simple dinner prior to the games---and watch your attendance double.

Items of interest from the National Board Meeting:

  1. Electronic Mailing Lists will be sent FREE OF CHARGE twice a year upon request to Club Managers, Unit and District Publications, Unit or District Tournament Chairpersons, and the Unit Membership Chairman.

  1. At sponsor option the stratification of a team in a Stratified Swiss Event may be determined by the average masterpoint holding of all team members.

  1. The cost for District/Unit Charity games has been increased from $6 to $7 to be implemented no later than January 1, 2005.

REMEMBER:  Start to schedule your NAP Qualifying Events for June, July, and August ….  the fees payable to ACBL have been reduced from

$7 per table to  $4 per table.

District 9 will no longer charge a $1 per table fee for NAP Qualifying games.

Please display the new Marketing NAP promotional materials at your clubs.

You can always get in touch with me by e-mail---even when I am on the road.  SO, keep in touch.    ShirleySealsFL@aol.com
