Update From the District Director –

Shirley Seals

NEW WEB SITE:    www.chetnet.com/ACBLDistrict 9

Our Web Site has been expanded to include all tournament schedules, tournament results, and special events in the District.  There is a link on the new site to my old web address-—which will still be in operation with ACBL news and reports from National Board Meetings.  The new site will include names and locations of all Bridge Clubs in District 9 and days and times of games offered.

Our web master, Chet Skapczynski, is doing a fabulous job—take a minute to see what all is offered in living color on the new web site.

I saved the best news for last….THE DISTRICT WIDE PUBLICATION IS A REALITY.   The first edition will be September 2004 and the premiere edition will be showcased at our NABC in Orlando in November 2004.  Each Unit has a volunteer Liaison/Reporter who will feed information to the Editor.  Please give articles and information to YOUR Reporter for submission to the Editor-----they will need your help to make this a publication we are all proud of.   The name of the Liaison volunteer from each Unit is included in the January 2004 District 9 Board Minutes.

The new publication will have a list of ALL DISTRICT 9 Sectionals, Regionals, STAC games and Special events on the back cover-----also, all tournament schedules will be advertised at the appropriate time.   On the inside cover of the front page, there will be a list of Officers in each Unit, and each Unit will be allocated pages for their local news.

The UNITY of a District Wide publication has been long overdue and I hope you will join in with the excitement of a publication which encompasses the entire District --- not just segmented reports.

I am very pleased to report that I have been appointed to Chair the Junior Committee on the National Board for 2004.  The Junior/Youth program is the future of the game of bridge and a challenging job to promote and teach the game to our young people.  I welcome any suggestions you have to get more Juniors involved.

I check my e-mail daily----even when on the “road”---so keep in touch.
